When I first started writing about our ghostly adventures, I was trying to think of what to call it. I wanted something cute and not scary because I feel like my whole purpose is to banish fear, not to welcome it.
For some reason, I kept thinking back on this one occasion, when I first got my spirit box and was getting to know how it worked. In a burst of silliness, I started talking about food to see if I could get any responses and wound up getting quite a few of them. They went something like this: “Bacon, coffee, latte, bacon, cream, ketchup, bacon.” From this, I concluded that ghosts must really like bacon!
It kind of sucks that the spirit box is so loud and staticky between voices, though. I don’t use it much because of that. Since I’m on the subject, though, I thought I’d share another spirit box incident that was amazing! One day, inspired by another of my silly moods, I decided to turn the box on when I felt that room full of unusual energy feeling I often get when spirits are close.
I grabbed a pencil next to me, and I asked if anyone in the room knew what the object was called.
“Pencil,” a man’s voice said.
Wow!
Curious, I set the pencil down and picked up a few other objects. One by one, the names popped up over the box. “Pipe, cup, crystal.”
(I still have this recording and will probably share it to the public at some point.)
Another interesting incident happened back when the house was rather fuller of ghosts than usual – especially children. I was sitting on my bed when I felt an area of my arm go warm, as if from a small hand, but without the weight of it. I don’t remember ever feeling a sensation quite like that. To make sure it wasn’t just some random thing my body was doing, I reached my hand out next to me and said, “Can you touch me again please? Can you take my hand?”
Instantly, I felt the same warm sensation on my hand. Again, the area was small, like a young child’s hand would be.
And speaking of children! We were finally able to help the little boy who followed my mom home.
He stopped going in my room for a while after I got grumpy at him for waking me up, but that little guy loved sweets! Every time one of us was eating a cookie, a piece of pie, or ice cream bar, I would get this gentle little ring in my right ear, always the same pitch and tone (I’m beginning to catch on that each spirit has its own ringtone, so to speak).
The last time this happened, Kiani came bounding into my bedroom with a little mochi ice cream ball in her hand. She climbed over to her favorite corner of my bed to enjoy it, and here came that same gentle ringing in my right ear.
I seized the opportunity and tried talking to him. I told him I was sorry for being cross at him when he woke me up, and I talked to him about his family and what would be waiting for him in the light, if he was ready to go. I felt I might have been especially convincing with my talk of “all the sweets you can eat” on the other side (and I truly believe this!).
After my little speech, I turned my ghost phone app on (just in case I could catch any words) and then I closed my eyes and envisioned a doorway of light.
Out loud, I said, “Great Spirit, please be with me as I work to create this doorway. I ask that my Guardian Spirit be here to help, as well as The Elite Guardian, Michael. And I would like to ask for my spirit guides’ help in communicating. Please be my eyes and my ears. I would like to call forth any family members of the little boy or any family members of the other spirits in this room. Please step forward and help these spirits to cross over to you.”
One second after I finished saying this, my ear rang at a high pitch, goosebumps rose on my arms, and the ghost radar popped up with “AID.”
Then followed a flurry of energy that lasted for maybe thirty seconds and all went still.
We never saw or felt him again after that.
