Do you have a ghost in your home?
If you don’t want it there, you may think you are helpless to do anything about it, but that is far from the truth. It is your home, your space and your body and you absolutely have a choice about what you allow in that space. You don’t need outside help either. If you want to help these ghosts move on, you can do it all on your own and with the help of your angels and Spirit guides.
If you don’t mind the ghost being there, then let it be, but you do need to be aware of a couple things first.
1. Every Spirit has it’s own energy, just like when they were alive. In fact, most are just ordinary people with the same personalities they’ve always had. Some spirits are kind, happy, silly, playful while others are depressed, angry, resentful and controlling.
Earthbound spirits don’t need sleep or food but they do need energy to function and the only way to get it is from living humans.
(What about electronics? Nope. Spirit energy is perfect for manipulating electronics but they don’t get energy from them.)
Whatever energy the spirit possesses is what they need to recharge. If they’re depressed, they feed off sad emotions from humans, if they’re angry, they look for angry emotions. If they are hateful, they feed off hate. If they are controlling or crave power, they feed off fear.
Because they need and crave these emotions, they can and often will try to induce these feelings in living humans in order to get their energy needs met.
What’s terrible about all this is- it isn’t free. We, as living humans, pay for it. When our energy is taken by these spirits, it drains us and messes with our natural emotions as well as our immune systems. We will feel exhausted, depressed, irritable, afraid-and because our immune systems are affected, we can get sick much easier; even so far as developing chronic fatique and a variety of more serious health problems.
(One bit of good news in all this is that the cheerful, kind ghosts don’t seem to have this draining affect, which to me-really points to the healing aspect of positive emotions- but regardless, we do need to understand how these energies affect us.)
2. It may not have occurred to most people, but these spirits have places to be and things they need to be doing in the afterlife and I can assure you that your living room is not it.
Before a spirit crosses over into the light (where their family and loved ones are waiting) they are considered to be “earthbound”. This is a highly fitting phrase to me because they might as well be bound up or even tied up. They are not moving on with their destiny (whatever The Source, Angels or The Great Spirit has planned for them).
3. Every spirit has free-will. The light is there for them to walk through from the second they leave their body to about seventy-two hours after their funeral (see Mary Ann Winkowski’s writings. If you haven’t read her books, you’re missing out!). If they don’t walk through, then they must find the light elsewhere by finding another newly deceased person with the light behind them or someone willing to create the light for them.
They can walk through this light anytime they want to, but the choice is theirs. You cannot force them into it.
That being said, its my belief that most spirits who refuse to go into the light make this choice because they are afraid. They don’t know what is waiting for them there.
I do, however, have a great sense of inner-knowing and peace about what is in The Light, which was what gave me the idea of the perfect way to help these spirits. It has worked very well for my daughter and I.
Before following the technique below, keep in mind that you do not have to help them if you feel uncomfortable doing so, particularly if the spirit is a mean one. If this is the case, I would recommend reading my chapter on home cleansing and protection, follow the instructions and…

Now onto making The Light…
🔮 1. Set a dried sage bundle next to you, but don’t light it until the very end or if you start to feel overwhelmed.
🔮2. This is optional, but if you’re new to visualizing things, light a candle and set it in front of you. I’ll explain why in a bit.
🔮3. Now, call in or pray for your personal light beings to be with you (The Source, God, The Light, Love, Angels, spirits guides, guardians- whichever resonates with you). Tell them about your intention to help the spirit in your home and ask that they reach out for and find the family and loved-ones of the earthbound spirit. Ask them to bring these loved-ones forward from the light to speak with the spirit in your home, while you focus on creating The Light for them.
NOTE: Occasionally the spirit won’t have loved ones on the other side. Just in case this is the situation, ask that animals or crossed-over celebrities be brought in to help as a back-up.
(When my daughter and I first started making The Light, we didn’t think to bring their loved-ones forward. The spirits would remark over the appearance of The Light and some did walk through, but most stayed, which we found frustrating. Bringing their loved-ones forward made a tremendous difference!)
🔮4. Now close your eyes (or stare into the candle flame if you’re new to visualizing) and focus on visualizing a door appearing in the room. Make it as bright white as you possibly can. See it in your head. Put all of your intention and focus into this. Think of nothing else but this doorway of light!
Then hold this visual for a least a minute to give your angels, Spirit guides etc. time to do what you asked them to. They work quickly, so it won’t take long.
While this is happening, you may experience a few sensations, like goosebumps or ringing in your ears or you may not feel much of anything. It’s all normal. Keep focusing.
What the earthbound spirit in your home will see is a bright doorway suddenly forming. Someone who is important to them will step through it and toward the spirit. The spirit will recognize them and there will be a brief and loving conversation, usually with a lot of hugging and some happy tears. Then they will turn and walk through the light with their loved one.
Again, there may be cases where the spirit refuses to go, as is their choice but it doesn’t happen often. The important thing is that you’re giving them the opportunity and it’s an amazing one. ☀️❤️👻
You may also feel the moment when the spirit leaves because the energy of the room will feel very light, quiet and still. Whatever was there, is now gone.
🔮5. When you’re all done, go ahead and light that sage bundle and smudge the house to clear out any residual energy.
And that’s it! Enjoy your empty space and well-deserved privacy. 😊
